This can be a powerful effect if you need to filter cards and have a use for the discard, but it can also wind up leaving you down on cards in circumstances where youre unable to capitalize on this type of effect
But there is also an opponent: so, if no one can win the match I defend myself using Silent Arbiter and my "mill" counters,(very useful Extirpate this way) waiting for (or milling for) Artful Dodge and Consuming Aberration

When Lightning enters the scene, you can choose either two forwards that the opponent controls, or two from your break zone and remove them from the game, hopefully leaving your opponent vulnerable and open to attacks
