RabidSquirtle April 8, 2025, 4:26pm 8 Its fake, Ill show you a comparison to a scan from tcgplayer as they usually have good scans of the cards: Heres the tcgplayer scan image610835 76.7 KB Keep in mind that lighting can be different so you cant always take shading into detail but I can tell you riht now that card is a little high in saturation to be real, there are exceptions for saturation especially for base set shadowless cards, if you want more information about it heres a good thread explaining that Deep saturation in base set holos - Ruby Red Charizard First thing that looks off as you look at the card from the top down is that all of the top and bottom borders are both extremely thick, Most standard size cards have around the same border size give or take a little, but the general rule of thumb with these is if one border is bigger then the average size the other side will be smaller, this graded mewtwo presents this example well, image380638 43.8 KB The next thing that is noticable is that the holofoil pattern has this very fake starry look that a lot of base fakes have its very 2d image195461 20.1 KB Heres the scan from tcgplayer of the same spot, scans can be a little off though so you might want to look up a video of someone holding a authentic on then compare it to your own footage The venusaur that is fake has a to many stars showing up clearly and the stars dont have much of a shine to them Another thing that catches the eye is how the fake one seems to still have a shadow compared to the tcgplayer scan of a real one image433349 66.8 KB You can see on the right that there is no shadow as there should be image473358 46.8 KB On the fake there is clearly a little shadow there similar to an unlimited version but it is slightly off There are all sorts of spacing and problems with fonts in the text, there are a ton more then the two I listed below if you want to find them yourself, just compare it to a real one and theres plenty to find Fake^ Real^ Fake^ Real^ Something that fakes often mess up on is the energy, they often dont shade them in this venusaur it gives a perfect example in the retreat cost Fake^ Real^ Well move on from the front, it looks like you are trying to take a picture of the side with the black layer that people often use to validate their english cards, this is also where the rip/peel test came from but you can see the line if you look close enough Its usually hard to see but if you compare a real and fake card right next to eachother its very apparent that its there (Sidenote, Japanese doesnt have the same printing as english so they dont have a black layer like english cards do) Its hard to pick up on camera but in real life a authentic card will look grayish from the side while a fake will most likely look white, if you look really close you can see the line This back looks extremely glossy image277434 36.9 KB Im assuming it feels glossy in real life, most english pokemon cards have identical backs so you can grab a common energy from a modern pack and compare the backs, you should be able to tell the differences
