The twist is that instead of crewing them each turn, you permanently convert them into creatures once youve accumulated enough charge counters
We basically made up our own rules for first strike and trample, and countering spells was murky even though Counterspell was in Starter 99 itself (they added in a few instants to that set unlike the previous Portal sets)
