Malus d. 'James Grieve' (Pleached) Winter fiery red in autumnCulinary and dessert apple raised by James Greive in Edinburgh 1893. Fruit is red flush, stripes over pale green yellow. Savoury, juicy, crisp yet melting flesh with strong acidity which later mellows. Early picked fruit makes excellent 'stewed apple'. Flowering group C, partially self fertile. Rootstock: 'Bittenfelder Seedling' and Malus type 4.
